24 PICE Student Chapters Unite to Uphold Integrity in Civil Engineering
The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers CLSU Student Chapter together with the 23 PICE Organizations Nationwide has released a joint Unity Statement reaffirming its commitment to the integrity, honor, and dignity of the Civil Engineering profession.
The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Central Luzon State University Student Chapter (PICE CLSU SC) has released a Unity Statement, together with other 23 PICE student chapters, reaffirming its commitment to the integrity, honor, and dignity of the Civil Engineering profession.
Corruption, ghost projects, and other issues have recently degraded the Philippines' civil engineering reputation. In response, the student chapter announced that corruption has no place in the field, noting that unethical behaviors jeopardize public trust, infrastructure safety and quality, and professional credibility.
In a call to action, the statement encourages other students, instructors, and practicing engineers to engage in fostering ethical leadership and maintaining public trust. "The Civil Engineering profession must remain true to its noble calling—to serve the Filipino nation faithfully, responsibly, and with unwavering dedication," according to the statement.
