Joining the PICE Family — A Simple Guide to Becoming an Associate or Regular Member
The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) is the official organization of civil engineers in the Philippines. It plays an important role in connecting professionals, setting standards, and supporting engineers at different stages of their careers. Whether you are a fresh graduate or already licensed, becoming a member helps you grow both professionally and personally. This article explains, in a clear and simple way, how to apply as an Associate or Regular Member based on official PICE guidelines. It breaks down the requirements, fees, and steps so that anyone—even those unfamiliar with the process—can understand how membership works.

Why Joining PICE Is an Important Step for Every Civil Engineer
Being a part of PICE assures you that you are not alone in your journey as an engineer. You are connected to people in your same profession, same line of work, same goals, and same dreams. Through seminars, you continue learning even beyond your graduation days.
Being part of PICE may also mean something to engineers. You get to prove to people that you are serious about your profession. Eventually, you don’t just see PICE as an organization, but as a community you can count on.
An Associate Member refers to a member who has earned a degree in Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. This covers both local and foreign graduates. You may already start your journey with PICE even if you are not yet licensed.
To become an Associate Member, you have to secure your documents, such as your diploma or your transcript of records. You also have to pay your entrance fee and annual dues. This type of membership is often taken by fresh graduates.
Requirements for Regular Membership and What Makes It Different
A Regular Member is a licensed civil engineer. This means you must be registered under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) and have a valid PRC ID. This membership gives you full recognition as a professional within PICE.
Newly licensed engineers are given a small advantage. During their first year, they only pay 50% of the annual dues. This helps ease the transition into professional life while encouraging them to become active members of the organization.
Understanding the Fees and Where Your Payments Go
In becoming a member, there are fees to be paid. The entrance fee is set at ₱1,000. The annual dues are also set at ₱1,000. These are divided between your local chapter and our national office.
We also charge an additional ₱150 for your ID card. This will be your official identification as a member. While these may seem to be small fees, these are actually for the programs and activities that benefit all engineers in the Philippines.
A Simple Step-by-Step Guide to the Application Process
The process starts by submitting your completed membership form to your local PICE chapter. At the same time, you also submit your documents and pay the required fees. The chapter then checks your details through the official system.
After the verification process, your application form will then be processed at the national office. Once your application form is complete, you will be notified when your certificate and ID card are available. The process may take a few weeks.
Once approved, you officially become part of the PICE community. You will receive your membership certificate and ID card, which you can use in professional settings. This marks your formal entry into the organization.
From there, you can attend events, join activities, and connect with other engineers. Over time, these experiences can help you grow, find opportunities, and build your career in civil engineering.
Becoming a member of PICE is not just about filling out a form—it is about taking the first step towards your professional development. Whether you become an Associate or a Regular Member, the process will keep you linked to your chosen profession. The process is easy and rewarding with the right preparation and steps.
